Sailing Program

Two female Junior sailors in a 420.

Our sailing program offers instruction in Optimists and 420s to sailors beginning at age 8 all the way through High School. Our sailing instructors and coaches are US Sailing Certified. Our racing coaches include current and former collegiate sailors. We offer instruction in basic seamanship and sailing as well as racing and advanced racing. Many of our Junior sailors compete successfully in Junior Regattas and go on to race in High School and College.

The tradition of Junior Sailing at Hingham Yacht Club is rich and storied. We are proud to have turned out generations of accomplished sailors, many of whom have won national honors or awards. We continue to build upon that tradition today by teaching seamanship and sportsmanship.

Tuesday Night Racing (Optional)

All Optimist and 420 sailors are encouraged to come out at 5:30 PM every Tuesday night all summer for Tuesday Night Racing. This weekly series is a great way for young sailors to be introduced to racing and for older sailors to keep their skills sharp for the bigger junior regattas. Weekly prizes are awarded, and series prizes are awarded at the end of the summer.
