USA Junior Olympics Sailing Festival

Posted on 28 June 2011

The Junior Olympics Sailing Program will be held at the Hingham Yacht Club July 12-15. Junior Olympic (JO) sailing started in 1997 by US Sailing. The goal of the program is to draw more young sailors to the sport through this nationwide family of events. Each regatta is hosted by a different club or organization, but all share a common goal: to encourage young sailors to enjoy sailing and to develop their skill. The JO regatta is open to all youth sailors ages 8 to 21, from beginning racers to those with Olympic aspirations. Junior Olympic sailing is now in it’s 15th year. Over 47,000 sailors have participated since the program began.
