The Figawi race is always a good start to the sailing season, and this year was no exception!

Tom & Myles Martel sailed their Jeanneau 45 “Courageux”, Kirk Brown sailed his J40 “Jazz”, Mike Dupin sailed his Catalina 30 “Wind Seeker”, Vice Commodore Chris Burns, Club Secretary Dan White and Matt Ferguson sailed their Catalina 34 “Ocean Rose”, and Past Commodore Peter Ross competed on his New York 40 “Blixtar”.

As the fleet left the start at Hyannis, winds were light and steady out of the West. But then the wind died shortly thereafter, leaving most of the fleet fighting against the current to reach the first mark. After finally rounding the mark, the wind was still variable and allowed ample time for lunch! While some participants dropped out, the HYC team hung in there and arrived in Nantucket 6-7 hours after starting.

Congratulations to Blixtar on finishing 2nd in Division G, Ocean Rose and her crew for placing 4th in division M, and Wind Seeker for her 4th place trophy in Division O.

Great way to start the 2019 racing season!
